Coil Vases + Floral Arrangements

Standard Ceramics has partnered with Flower Duet to bring you an all-levels handbuilding course where ceramic art and the art of working with fresh flowers come together. Over four weeks, students will build organic coil vases — exploring form, texture, and surface — while learning how to structure the interior of a vessel to hold and display flowers. In the final session, Casey Schwartz, SC member and owner of Flower Duet, leads a hands-on demonstration using fresh flowers you'll take home in your finished vase.

4 weeks · All levels welcome · Bisque firing included

Get acquainted with Standard’s glaze wall and discover application techniques — dipping, pouring, brushing, layering, and wax resist — and come away with a clearer picture of what happens inside the kiln. You may even learn to read a test tile and start recognizing common issues like crawling, pinholing, and running. Leave with a foundation for making more intentional choices at the glaze wall.
