Do I need any prior experience to take classes?
No experience is necessary for our boot camp and beginner classes! They are designed for complete newcomers to pottery. We'll teach you everything from basic clay preparation to finishing techniques.
Do I have to have experience to be a member?
Memberships are for experienced ceramic artists who are able to work independently.

What are your size limits and firing fees?
Regular shelf size limit is 15" wide and 16" tall (glaze firing is 2.6 cents per square inch at this level). Our top shelf limit is 15" wide and 20" tall (glaze fining is 4.6 cents per square inch). This is due to the size of our kiln shelves.
What should I wear to class?
Wear comfortable, old clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. Closed-toe shoes are required for safety. We recommend bringing an apron.
What if I miss a class?
If you miss a class you can come to a make up class during your session or choose 2 extra open clessroom sessions.
What is your cancellation policy for classes and workshops?
We offer full refunds if you canceled via email up to 2 weeks in advance. If you canceled within 2 weeks of the start date, we are happy to move you to another class that works.
How long of a commitment do I have to make for membership?
Our memberships are month to month and they automatically charge your card on the first of each month. Cancellations require a full billing cycle notice — so if you cancel mid-month, you'll be billed one more time before it ends.
What is your cancellation policy for membership?
To cancel, email us before the end of the current month. Your next scheduled payment will be your final charge, and your membership will remain active through the end of that billing period. We don't offer retroactive cancellations or refunds for partial months.
If you sign up and want just one month, let us know the same day to avoid being automatically renewed into the next cycle.
Do you provide tools?
You will need your own tools for all classes and workshops.
Can I bring my own clay?
We ask that you use studio clay only unless approved by staff. This ensures compatibility with our kilns and glazes.
Can I bring my own glazes?
Yep! Feel free to bring in your own glazes. Just run them by us so that we can double-check that they are cone 10. Please store them on your shelf.
What if my piece breaks during firing?
While rare, firing accidents can happen. We are not responsible for work broken while firing. This is part of learning pottery.
Do you fire pieces made elsewhere?
We only fire pieces made in our studio with our clay and glazes to ensure compatibility and safety.
What cone do you fire to?
We fire to Cone 10 reduction and oxidation
How much do firings cost?
Bisque and Glaze firings are each 1.3 cents per cubic inch up to 15"X15"X16" and oversized pieces are a one time fee of 4.6 cents per cubic inch up to 15"X15"X24". This includes bisque and glaze.
Can I use the studio's address for my Etsy shop or personal website?
We love that you're selling your work — but our address can't be used as a business or mailing address for personal sales.
Can I host a pottery party here?

Is SCS available for production work?
Unfortunately, we don't have the capacity or staff to support this level of output. If you have a large one time project, please speak with us directly to see if we can accommodate it.
Where do I park?
We have a small parking lot behind the studio, with additional free street parking available. Please check posted signs for time limits.
