Do I need any prior experience to take classes?

No experience is necessary for our beginner classes! They are designed for complete newcomers to pottery. We'll teach you everything from basic clay preparation to finishing techniques.

Do I have to have experience to be a member?

Memberships are for experienced ceramic artists able to work independently. Prospective members are asked to complete a studio orientation.

I want to sign up for membership, what do I do?

Fill out the inquiry and we will set up a tour! If there are no available openings, fill out the waitlist form and we’ll let you know when we have a spot available for you.

What are your size limits?

Regular shelf size limit is 15" wide and 16" tall and Top shelf limit is 15" wide and 20" tall. This is due to the size of our kiln shelves.

What should I wear to class?

Wear comfortable, old clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. Closed-toe shoes are required for safety. We recommend bringing an apron.

What if I miss a class?

If you miss a class you can come to our open classroom time for free.

What is your cancellation policy for classes and workshops?

We offer full refunds (minus a $15 processing fee) if the class is canceled via email up to 2 weeks in advance. If the class is canceled within 2 weeks of the start date, we are unable to offer a refund unless we can confirm someone from our waitlist for that spot.

How long of a commitment do I have to make for membership?

Our memberships are month to month and they are automatically charge on your card on the first of each month. However, we require 30 days notice for cancellation.

What is your cancellation policy for membership?

To cancel your membership, email us before the end of the month. Your upcoming payment will be your final payment, and your membership ends at the end of the following month. We don't offer retroactive cancellations or refunds. If you want only one month when signing up, notify us the same day to avoid automatic renewal.

Do you provide tools?

A basic tools are available for use in all beginner classes. You will need your own tools for all other classes and workshops.

Can I bring my own clay?

We ask that you use studio clay only unless approved by staff. This ensures compatibility with our kilns and glazes.

Can I bring my own glazes?

Yep! Feel free to bring in your own glazes. Just run them by us so that we can double-check that they are cone 10. Please store them on your shelf.

What if my piece breaks during firing?

While rare, firing accidents can happen. We are not responsible for work broken while firing. This is part of learning pottery.

Do you fire pieces made elsewhere?

We only fire pieces made in our studio with our clay and glazes to ensure compatibility and safety.

What cone do you fire to?

We fire to Cone 10 reduction and oxidation

How much do firings cost?

Bisque firing is free. Every membership package includes a generous amount of glaze firing. If you exceed the package amount, we then price per piece based on volume. Additional Firing fees will be charged monthly and varies based on your package.

Can I host a pottery party here?

Is SCS available for production work?

Unfortunately, we don't have the capacity or staff to support this level of output. If you have a large one time project, please speak with us directly to see if we can accommodate it.

Where do I park?

We have a small parking lot behind the studio, with additional free street parking available. Please check posted signs for time limits.
